Mike Lazaridis, BlackBerry founder, has just confirmed that users of iPhones and other devices are going to embrace the company’s BlackBerry Messenger platform…

BlackBerry founder Mike Lazaridis said he’s confident that users of iPhones and other devices will embrace the company’s BlackBerry Messenger platform, which will be offered on rival phones later this year.

“BBM is by far the most compelling wireless experience and wireless social-networking environment,”

Lazaridis and fellow co-CEO Jim Balsillie stepped down from the company last January.

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) was previously the crown jewel of the company, as the proprietary messaging app during the height of its popularity had its users proudly and loudly exchanging their “PINs” with fellow enthusiasts on social networks and gatherings.

But as the company declined for failing to innovate and acknowledge rival smartphones such as the iPhone (must watch video) and other Android offerings, cross platform third party alternatives such as WhatsApp have become a viable alternative. Recent launches of the Z10 and Q10 models based on a new operating system aim to make BlackBerry relevant again.

BlackBerry announced BBM for iOS will launch this summer just over a week ago, as detailed at their annual BlackBerry Live conference.

Apple identifies certain patents allegedly infringed by Samsung Galaxy S4 and Google Now app, according to FossPatents, now follow us after the break for more details…

The two Siri patents are US Patent No. 8,086,604 and US Patent No. 6,847,959 relating to a “universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system.”

Apple asserted the ’604 and ’959 patents against the Android Quick Search Box, but with the launch of Google Now, it appears that the company wants to update its infringement claims accordingly.

To further complicate matters, Apple’s infringement analysis of the ’604 and ’959 patents focuses on Google functionality that Samsung incorporates into its devices. For example, in its original contentions, Apple identified Google’s Quick Search Box found on the accused Samsung phones as satisfying the limitations of the ’604 and the ’959 patents. Since Apple initially served those infringement contentions, however, Google released the Google Now search application, which in some instances, replaces the Quick Search Box, but incorporates the relevant ’604 and ’959 patented functionality.

Both Flickr and Vimeo will now also be integrated deeply into the new operating system, so users will be able to sign into the respective networks via iOS 7′s built-in Settings application. Like with iOS’s Facebook and Twitter ties, Apple customers will be able to log-in one time into each social network and have full sharing access.

If the services are integrated, customers would be able to easily share their photos and videos through the system wide sharing menu and apps would likely be able to use the signed in account.

According to a new report comes from folks over at DigiTimes, Apple’s Fifth  generation of the iPad will be more lighter and more faster to hit the Apple stores, say Taiwan makers.

According to sources with Taiwan’s supply chain via DigiTimes.

The display of the new iPad, which will hit market shelves as early as September, will still be a 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, the same as the one used in the 4th-generation model, except that the new display is built on a glass substrate of 0.2mm, thinner than the 0.25mm one for the 4th-generation device, the sources said, adding the new table will has a narrow bezel.

The touch panel solution for 5th-generation iPad is GF2 (1 layer of glass and two layers of ITO film) instead of G/G bonding used in 4th-generation iPad, the sources added.

The new iPad will use one LED light bar for backlighting, compared to two LED light bars used in 4th-generation iPad, the sources noted.

The 5th-generation iPad is estimated to be 25-33% lighter than the 4th-generation one, the sources indicated.

LG Display, Samsung Display and Sharp are expected to be the suppliers of display panels for the 5th-generation iPad, while Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology will undertake SMT for the LED light bars, Radiant Opto-Electronics and Coretronic will be responsible for making the backlight units and TPK Holding for touch panel bonding, the sources said.

Rumors about Apple’s so-called (iWatch), comes from the well known Apple news website ‘Macotakara‘, says that Apple testing 1.5″ OLED displays for wearable (iWatch), follow us for more details…

According to the report, Apple is exploring 1.5-inch OLED touchscreens manufactured by RiTdisplay of Taiwan that use one-glass-solution touch sensors. This would allow the display component to be as thin as possible for the wearable accessory.

It should be noted that rumors for years have claimed that Apple is interested in OLED displays, but to date the company has never used the display technology in any of its devices. OLED screens could, however, be an optimal choice for wearable technology because of their low power consumption levels.

In a second report, the Daily News claims that Foxconn, Apple’s longtime manufacturing partner, has already received orders for an “iWatch.” However, the initial production run is said to be for no more than a thousand units, as Foxconn is allegedly running a “small-scale trial production.”

With “iWatch” rumors heating up, one survey from last month found that 19 percent of consumers are interested in buying such a device from Apple. That exceeds pre-announcement interest in both the iPad and Intel-based Mac hardware.

Rumors of an Apple smart watch began growing earlier this year, when a number of reports claimed that the company is developing a wearable wrist accessory. One such report claimed that the company has a 100-person team working on the project.

Hacked AT&T carrier update allows your iPhone to connect to the band giving off the strongest signal rather than the preferred band, both with LTE and HSPA+.

This could improve network performance for some users. Here’s how it works:

This hack enables Release 9 DC-HSPA+ on the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, 4, and mini as well as enhancing LTE data and signal. Though AT&T is limited to HSPA+ 21, the device itself becomes more open to an increased amount of bandwidth thus allowing for better throughput of data and data connection. This is very convinient for users in areas that don’t yet have LTE coverage. This hack also includes a fix to any and all iPhone 5 users who have experienced degraded/weakened signal over the past couple to few months on the PCS 1900MHz and/or CLR 850MHz bands for HSPA+ as well as the APT 700MHz and/or AWS 1700MHz band for LTE.

The issue was due in part to the newer revised iPhone 5′s that came with the AWS band enabled for HSPA+, if you were to ever choose to leave AT&T for T-Mobile. It set the band preference for HSPA+ to CLR and LTE to APT which can cause conflictions and problems when you’re in an area with towers on different bands with stronger signal. The setting has been set back to the default “auto” setting and should help the 4G HSPA+/LTE signal perform a bit better, whether your iPhone 5 is the older edition or the revised edition. This hack will also help you connect to the strongest tower rather than the preferred type of tower, whether on HSPA+ or LTE.
